Amazon.com's Artist Central thriving

Amazon.com, Inc. today announced that Artist Central (http://artistcentral.amazon.com), a free service that helps musicians, managers and record labels connect with customers on Amazon.com, has more than 10,000 participating artists using the service. With new features like a Twitter widget and customizable banners, Artist Central is a growing platform that allows musicians to create a rich, customized Artist Store on Amazon.com, ultimately helping customers discover artists and their work more easily.

“Our goal for Artist Central is to deliver the complete artist experience to our customers, all in one place,” said Craig Pape, director of Music for Amazon.com. “We are thrilled that more than 10,000 musicians are using Artist Central to connect with fans and we look forward to seeing that number grow.”

Artist Central allows users, such as musicians, managers and record labels, to contribute compelling content to Amazon.com Artist Stores, search results and product detail pages. Musicians like Band of Horses use Artist Central to upload photos, a bio, videos and full streaming tracks. Like other artists, Band of Horses has used the Artist Central Twitter feature to let their fans know what they are up to and have created a customized banner with their picture and logo.

“Artist Central is a great way for our artists to connect with consumers,” said Steve Barnett, Columbia Records chairman. “Customizable features, interactive multi-media and quick links to album or song purchase options make Artist Central a great one-stop shop for music lovers.”
