Nickelback and People's Choice invite fans to name new guitar

People’s Choice Award winning and Grammy nominated band Nickelback kicks off a contest today with People’s Choice for music fans to create and vote on the name of the new Gibson USA Les Paul Guitar for the band’s lead singer, Chad Kroeger. The winning entrant to create the name of the new guitar will receive two premium tickets and meet & greet passes to a VIP concert event on October 30th in Las Vegas, in addition to an autographed new Chad Kroeger Limited Edition Gibson USA Les Paul guitar.

"I'm very excited about the upcoming release of my Gibson USA signature Les Paul and it's an amazing opportunity to be able to work with the People’s Choice Awards to have our fans, the greatest fans in the world, come up with the name of this guitar. The People's Choice Awards have always been very special to Nickelback because it is truly about and for the fans; the ultimate forum where they have the final say. It only makes sense that we would engage the fans in this very special process,” enthused Nickelback's Chad Kroeger.

Gibson USA is known worldwide for producing some of the most collectible and sought after guitars ever manufactured. In creating his own signature line with the company, Kroeger will join a list of extraordinary musical icons that span the globe. In this limited edition, the guitar will be produced for the global market to celebrate the music and talent of Nickelback’s lead singer. Specs include a one-of-a-kind color specifically created for Chad Kroeger, in addition to the singer’s signature silver stars on the back of the neck, a Ghost Piezo system and Ghost Burstbuckers.

Guitar name submissions will be accepted until August 16, 2010 at www.PeoplesChoice.com. On August 17, the band will narrow down the selections and present their top choices back to the fans who will ultimately decide the name for the new guitar. By voting for the guitar name, fans are automatically entered to win tickets to the 2011 People’s Choice Awards in Los Angeles.

“We thank Nickelback for offering this great opportunity to interact with their fans,” said Fred Nelson, President of the People’s Choice Awards. “This contest exemplifies our goal of connecting the fans with artists they know and love.”

To submit names, fans can sign up at no cost to be a People’s Choice member at www.PeoplesChoice.com.
