Australian indie-rock import Andy Clockwise, who has become a staple in the Los Angeles live music scene in recent years, will headline the legendary Troubadour on Wednesday, April 27th in support of the release of his debut album, The Socialite. Blending rock, pop, synth and punk into self-described “schizo pop,” the debut album from this electric live performer features 13 tracks and will be available on iTunes beginning April 26th.
Recorded in Sydney, New York, London, Hollywood, airport bathrooms, hotel rooms, garages and other places around the world, The Socialite showcases the tremendous range of Clockwise’s musicianship with Clockwise writing each song and playing all instruments for the recorded tracks. From angst-filled indie/pop/rock numbers to ballads and performances that near an anthem rock feel, the 13 tracks on The Socialite parallel the raucous and relentless live performances that have popularized Clockwise.
“This is the story of the imaginary battle of pop music against apathy and boredom,” said Clockwise. “Man doesn’t it sound good? I wonder who wins. Let’s enjoy the show!” said Clockwise.
Following the release of The Socialite, Clockwise will embark on a national tour, dates to be announced soon. Clockwise has cemented his place in LA’s live music scene, since moving to the US two years ago, with his live shows selling out everywhere from the Troubadour to Spaceland. The local success comes after achieving national success Down Under, including steady radio play and tours with bands like INXS and The Strokes’ Julian Casablancas. More recently, Clockwise was featured in several showcases at the internationally-recognized 2011 SXSW music festival, including the Hotel CafĂ©, Little Radio and Aussie BBQ showcases.
Tickets for the Troubadour show, which will begin at 8:00 PM and will open with performances by George Standford as well as Robotanist, are on-sale now for $12 through TicketFly or at the venue box office.
