Free emergency response class for Pasadena residents Saturday
Pasadenans are invited to a free workshop Saturday, April 9, from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. when they will go through the Pasadena Emergency Response Training (PERT) course. The workshop will take place at Jefferson Elementary School, 1500 E. Villa St., and will include training in disaster preparedness, assessment of medical needs, fire suppression, light search and rescue, and other skills critical to the first 72 hours after a disaster when first responders may have to take care of other top-priority needs. Hosted by Pasadena City Councilwoman Margaret McAustin and the Pasadena Fire Department, the workshop is open to anyone age 16 and older. Participants should wear comfortable clothing and closed-toe shoes. RSVPs are required and 125 spaces are available. Priority will be given to District 2 residents. To make a reservation, for information or to be a volunteer at the event, e-mail mfuller@cityofpasadena.net, visit www.cityofpasadena.net/district2/pert or call (626) 744-4742.
