Meet Jake Troth

"Material Things' is a love song. It's about the love of the world i grew up watching on television in the 80's. The ridiculously expensive and lavish lives of those people I always wanted to be. The songs short length is derived from the short attention span of pop culture, and it's melodies are as intoxicating as any cocktail. Beneath the patent leather and rhinestones though, there is an honest confession of what it means to be truly overtaken by this beautifully destructive disease: materialism."

The thoughtful, witty approach Jake Troth takes with his songwriting combined with his soulful and pop infused arrangements have already drawn positive comparisons to artists like Amy Winehouse, Broken Bells, Coldplay and even The Beatles. Although somewhat of an unknown right now, this certainly won't be the case for much longer. With an impressive arsenal of hit singles and an album under his belt already (out 6/16), Jake is certainly not slowing down for anyone.

Already laying down the ground work for his next project, Troth will have an EP 'FRIENDS' ready for the Summer, with more releases waiting in the wings this Fall.

Jake Troth could be considered as somewhat of a musical prodigy, endlessly writing, recording and producing songs since he first discovered his mother’s guitar under her bed at nine years old. Having caught the bug and a certain knack for writing music, Jake went on to join a number of various bands throughout high school. Experimenting with different styles of rock music, Troth even joined a death metal band, but eventually settled on focusing on his true passion for the simpler, folk and pop inspired sound and style.

After graduating, Jake moved to San Francisco. Living in an artist-run gallery space, he decided music was what made him truly happy and promised himself to not lose sight of his goals regardless of his academic pusuits at the time. Having been accepted and given a scholarship to the Savannah College of Art and Design, it was there that Jake developed his unique and honest sound while studying fashion by day, and playing in bars and clubs at night. Upon completion of his studies, Jake found himself with more original material than what he knew what to do with them and decided to upload and give away some tracks on the internet and see what happened.

Material Things was one of the first songs he gave away, and in no time, he received an email from VH1, asking if they could use the track in their show 'The X Life'. Since then he has placed songs on other shows such as 'The Jersey Shore', 'Cuffed', & 'When I was Seventeen', just to name a few.

Proving one should keep a very close eye on Mr. Troth, who's certain to be one of the new wave of breaking artists for 2011 and beyond. For now, enjoy 'Material Things' out now and stay tuned for more exciting news and music coming this summer.
