'Momma Christine's Colored Girls,' gospel play in Long Beach June 24

A true story of four women who were mistreated verbally and physically based on skin color, “Momma Christine’s Colored Girls” is a gospel stage play that will be performed at the Terrace Theater/Long Beach Performing Arts Center on Friday, June 24th, at 8PM. This play is a Big Micc production.

“Colored Girls” is a gripping story of taboo, sexual abuse, and the internal struggles many women deal with on a daily basis. The story centers around four black women, raised by their Grandmother Christine, who reunite after 25 years apart for an Easter get together. Here the women must face their haunted pasts and deal with their personal demons.

One is dating a pimp, another is married to a verbally abusive preacher, one has breast cancer and is spending her remaining days making up for lost time, and the fourth is a Ph.D candidate dealing with issues based on her skin color. “Colored Girls” is a heartfelt story of love, filled with real life miracles and a passion for Christ.

"It is an honor to welcome this wonderful group of actors to the Long Beach Terrace Theater for this special production," said Dan Spellens, Director of Theaters & Entertainment for the Long Beach Convention & Entertainment Center.
