Lang Lang to be featured in 'My Week With Marilyn' soundtrack

Internationally acclaimed pianist Lang Lang will be featured in the highly anticipated feature film, My Week With Marilyn to be released November 23rd. Lang Lang has recorded a series of piano solos, including “Marilyn’s Theme” by Alexandre Desplat for the films soundtrack.

Directed by Simon Curtis, My Week With Marilyn offers an uncommonly intimate look at the Hollywood icon, charting the brief, charged connection she forged with a young man who came to understand her better than anyone. Adrian Hodges’ screenplay is set during the summer of 1956 when Monroe was in England honeymooning with her husband, playwright Arthur Miller, and filming The Prince And The Showgirl, the film that famously united her with Sir Laurence Olivier. My Week With Marilyn features a starry cast including Academy Award® nominee Michelle Williams as Marilyn Monroe, Tony Award winner Eddie Redmayne, Academy Award nominee Kenneth Branagh, Academy Award winner Judi Dench, Julia Ormond, Dougray Scott, Zoe Wanamaker, Emma Watson, Derek Jacobi, Simon Russell Beale and Dominic Cooper. The film is produced by Trademark Films and is financed and distributed by The Weinstein Company. BBC Films and Lipsync Productions also financed the picture. It was developed in association with the UK Film Council and BBC Films.

“I am thrilled to be making my Hollywood soundtrack debut on such a prestigious film,” says Lang Lang. “Alexandre Desplat has written beautiful music that I have recorded to underscore the action. I am happy that my friend Harvey Weinstein invited me to participate in this incredible project.”

Just one month before the release of My Week With Marilyn, on Saturday, October 22, 2011, over 100,000 people will have the unprecedented opportunity to see Lang Lang on movie screens around the world in a special cinemacast event.
