Exhibits:

8th Annual Arcadia High School Honors History Student Exhibition:
Arcadia Police ~ Service, Dedication, Commitment
June 1 through 30
Opening Reception: June 1, 3:00pm

Back for its eighth year, Arcadia High School’s history honors classes, led by teacher Oliver Beckwith, will be exhibiting their findings after conducting oral histories with Arcadia’s Police Officers. Each year the students display their research with stories and photographs. Come out and show your appreciation for Arcadia’s finest!!


Creations of a Lifetime: The Grace Verberg Lace Collection
July 14 through August 11
Opening Reception: July 14, 10:00am

The Museum is proud to present the artistic creations of long-time Arcadia resident and artist, Grace Verberg. This collection shows off Mrs. Verberg’s talent and explains the intrinsic value and beauty of making lace and its story throughout history. If you are a lover of handwork, this is an exhibit you won’t want to miss! Mrs. Verberg will be attending the opening reception and there will be a presentation about the history of lace.



4th Annual Arcadia Juried Photography Contest and Exhibition
This year’s theme: Cultural Wonders of the World
Accepting Entries: August 1 through 4
Exhibition: August 25 through October 13
Awards Reception: August 25, 10:00am

What cultural wonders do you see and experience on our planet? Join us for our 4th annual juried photography contest and share your images with the community! If you have a camera and can take photographs, you can enter! All judged and accepted entries will be hung in the final exhibition. 1st, 2nd, 3rd and honorable mention winners will be announced at the opening reception. Brown Bag Lunch Talks
Thursdays, Starts noon, ends 12:30pm

The Museum will continue presenting our popular Brown Bag Lunch Talks which take place the third Thursday of every month on the Museum’s outdoor patio. Please dress appropriately according to weather conditions. Bring your lunch and listen to our guest speakers who will present snippets about Arcadia history, people, places and events.

June 21: President of Friends of the Society, Beverly Street – “Sister City Memories”
July-August: No Brown Bag Lunch Talks scheduled. See you in September!

2012 A Year Around the World Series


Kangaroos, Koalas and Kookaburras! Oh My!
Saturday, June 9; 12:30pm

In what country can you find kangaroos, kookaburras and koalas? If you guessed Australia, you are correct! Learn about Australia’s history and culture through fun activities such as designing your own boomerang, creating aboriginal art, making a kangaroo pouch and much more!

Arcadia at the Movies
June 22, 7:30pm

Arcadia, like you’ve never seen it before! The Museum is excited to present our first annual “Arcadia at the Movies” program where we will be proudly showing off the movies that have been filmed in Arcadia over many decades. Our first film in the series will be “The Long Shot,” filmed in 1939 in Arcadia and in and around Santa Anita Park. A pre-movie talk will be presented by Curator, Dana Dunn, with a background on the movie. Bring your lawn chair and a beverage and relax with a fun filled evening for all ages. The Museum will provide the popcorn!!
Minors must be supervised.
