Preserves, Jams & Jellies

with Alexandra Poer Sheridan & Barbara Poer

Wednesday, April 11, 2012 from 3 - 5 pm

Here's the class you've been asking for, given by a terrific mother- daughter duo, Alexandra Poer Sheridan, caterer extraordinaire, and Barbara Poer. We have enjoyed Alexandra’s classes over the years, and now you will see how she came by her skills. Barbara is one of the best home cooks around. She shared this skill with her three children, and they still all cook together when they are home for the holidays. But tasting is believing! Alexandra is a well-known caterer with an outstanding reputation, who just opened her own restaurant/café called Alexandra’s Table at 413 South Mission Drive, San Gabriel 91775.

Barbara and Alexandra will bring both a Blood Orange/Rosewater Marmalade and a Mango Chutney to taste. They will also be making Strawberry/Grand Marnier Jam from start to finish so you can learn the entire process. This will enable you to be able to make any of the other jam, jelly and chutney recipes that will also be included! They will also bring a Limoncello liqueur that needs weeks of aging on the peel and then is best served over ice in the summer... the way the Sicilians do. We will sample one that is properly aged, made with 100 proof vodka – but be careful as it can sneak up on you! Seating is limited so call soon for a reservation!
