LA based singer/songwriter Kat Parsons will release her highly anticipated new EP, Talk To Me, on April 3, 2012. The title track is currently available for free download as the first single, here. Later this year, Parsons will release two follow up EPs: OH! and It Matters to Me.
The leading track from Talk to Me, “Fall For It,” was produced by Mike Flynn (The Fray, Sara Bareilles) and Warren Huart (James Blunt, Howie Day), after Parsons beat over 1,400 artists to win the OurStage.com contest "Get your song produced by head of A&R at Epic Records” in March 2010. The track is a pop anthem for all those who have been chased, and as soon as captured, left alone.
Talk To Me -- funded in part by her legions of over 8,000 dedicated fans who contributed $19,560 -- puts Parsons’ music and beautiful voice at the forefront, revealing her as tough, yet vulnerable; knowing yet naïve; expecting the best in people without being blind to their faults. The tracks "TV Radio" and "Differently" explore these ideas: the dissonance between reality and fantasy; between expectation and disappointment; between "should be" and "is.” Parsons gets sucked into the black hole of rumination in the song "Thinking Through.”
Parsons has opened for or shared bills with heavy hitters like Billy Corgan, Jim White, Spin Doctors, and Sara Bareilles. And she’s performed across the U.S., Japan, Europe, Korea, Vietnam, Thailand, Brunei, Malaysia, Singapore, and Australia. She has appeared on the cover of Music Connection magazine, won the Acoustic Live competition (beating out more than 600 musicians), and her sophomore album No Will Power was runner-up for Album of the Year at the 2005 DIY Music Festival. She’s been covered in Billboard, Boston Globe, Washington Post, The Onion, and more.
