To celebrate Arbor Day, the Pasadena Public Works Department and the Pasadena Beautiful Foundation invite amateur arborists and budding botanists to help plant trees Saturday, March 31, to keep Pasadena’s urban forest full and beautiful.
Volunteers are asked to meet at McDonald Park, Mountain Street at Wilson Avenue, at 8 a.m. A tree-planting demonstration will begin at 8:15 a.m. and planting teams will be sent out at 8:30 a.m. Lunch will be provided by the Pasadena Firefighters Association at 11 a.m.
About 175 trees, mostly oaks and camphors, will be planted in the Bungalow Heaven, Historic Highlands and Mentor/Villa neighborhoods.
All plantings will be supervised by city crews. Each child under 14 must be accompanied by an adult. Volunteers should wear comfortable clothes and closed-toed shoes and bring gloves and shovels if available.
