'Artistic Eden' opens in Pasadena March 9

Artistic Eden: Contemporary Masters III, an invitational, juried fine art exhibition, opens to the public at Pasadena Museum of History on ArtNight, Friday March 9, from 6:00 to 10:00 pm. The third biannual exhibition featuring scenes of the greater San Gabriel Valley by nationally recognized representational artists will remain on display in the Museum’s History Center Galleries through Sunday, July 29, 2012.

Hours: 12:00 Noon to 5:00 pm Wednesdays through Sundays.

Admission: $7 General; $6 Students & Seniors; Members & Children under 12 Free. Free admission every “Community Wednesday” to anyone who lives, works or is a student in any of the following local communities: Alhambra, Altadena, Arcadia, Bradbury, Duarte, Eagle Rock, El Sereno, Glendale, Highland Park, La Canada Flintridge, La Crescenta, Monrovia, Monterey Park, Pasadena, Rosemead, San Gabriel, San Marino, Sierra Madre, South Pasadena and Temple City. Please mention this offer and show some form of i.d. in the Museum Store.

Exhibition Details
Over 200 nationally recognized representational artists were invited to create artworks reflecting scenes of Southern California’s San Gabriel Valley for this singular juried event, which is jointly curated by the seven galleries comprising the Pasadena Area Gallery Association (PAGA): Fremont Gallery, Galerie Gabrie, Michael Hollis Fine Art, San Marino Gallery, Segil Fine Art Source, Sycamore Gallery and Tirage Fine Art Gallery The initial list of invited artists includes many of the country’s most honored fine art painters, with the final selection juried by museum officials, independent fine art professionals, and the gallery sponsors. One painting from the exhibition that best represents the theme will be purchased by the participating galleries and donated to Pasadena Museum of History as a gift of appreciation. It will add a contemporary work to the Museum’s important collection of California plein aire paintings. The “Museum Purchase Prize” will be announced at a special reception for artists and Museum members on Saturday, March 10.
