Ponyboy
8/15: Long Beach, CA @ 4th Street Vine
8/19: Los Angeles, CA @ The Virgil

Pony Boy, aka Marchelle Bradanini, puts a seductive, modern twist on the Americana sound with sultry vocals atop twangy, buzzing guitars. Her new single, “Not In This Town,” proves that she isn’t afraid to explore the dark side, touching on themes of violence, heartbreak, and small-town mystery. Released on July 31st, Pony Boy’s “Not In This Town” single is available for purchase on Bandcamp.

“Not In This Town” is a smoky, slow-burning track with deep, distorted vocals juxtaposed against the delicate shimmer of harp strings, creating an air of mystery and intrigue. The track’s accompanying video enhances its chilling vibe with haunting imagery and an eerie plot. Shot on16mm at the Salton Sea, Bradanini explains that she chose the location for its “desolate grandeur” and “faded glamour.” For a peak into Pony Boy’s strange and beautiful world, check out the “Not In This Town” video where it premiered with PureVolume.

Rounding out the “Not In This Town” single is b-side “The Murder Ballad of Carrie Lee,” an upbeat track driven by piano and a subtle touch of banjo that allow Bradanini’s vocals to shine as they fluctuate in stunning twists and turns. Produced by John Would (Fiona Apple, Wanda Jackson) and featuring Amy Wood (Fiona Apple) on drums, the track maintains a bouncy, toe-tapping rhythm, while its subject matter focuses on a girl who goes on a crime spree after falling in love with a bad boy.

Having performed alongside The Mynabirds in LA last month, Pony Boy will be joined by drummer Garrett Ray (Fool's Gold), guitarist JP Bendzinski (Crystal Antlers) and bassist Brandon Owens (Lauryn Hill) for a couple live dates on the west coast this month. Stay tuned for more from Pony Boy, and be sure to grab the new single!
