August 12 – Coordinator Draca presents “Industrial Goth” featuring guest dancers Nova Kachina, Bella, Aleksia and Laura V. To help set the appropriate dark mood, we invite everyone to come dressed in your favorite Goth ensemble. If you don’t know what that is, just wear black! We hope you can come down and watch these wonderful dancers as they do the gothic shimmy.

Everyone is invited for a relaxing evening among friends. Select your favorite beverage, hot or cold, from an assortment of coffees, teas, smoothies or juice; add to that a tasty sandwich or pastry; and then seat yourself in the entertainment area to enjoy some really great dancing at NO cover charge!
SHIMMY SHOWCASE begins on most Sundays at 5:30 p.m. at Viento y Agua Coffee House in Long Beach at 4007 East 4th Street; 562-434-1182. Please refer to the detailed schedule below for more information about upcoming showcases and performance opportunities.
Please arrive at least 15 minutes before show time (30 min if you’re a performer!), so you can stop at the refreshment counter to get a delicious beverage, snack or sandwich; then head for the show area and grab a seat so you don’t miss any of our great performers!

September 9 – Coordinator Amber welcomes Perizad, and Saahira to delight you with their masterful interpretations of middle eastern dance styles and introduces Tamara and Candace of Tribal Revival. These awesome performers are sure to guarantee a splendid evening of dance entertainment, and we still have one spot left if someone would like to join them! September 16 - Your Shimmyshowcase for this mid-September Sunday features an abundance of talent. Guest dancers Kamar, Aianna, Lydia, and Erica are sure to please you, and if that isn’t enough, we have Draca in the role of coordinator! We know this wonderful cast of performers will delight everyone who comes down to Viento y Agua, so please mark your calendars and be sure to join us.
September 23 – Saviya presents another popular Shimmyshowcase theme with “A Touch of Burlesque.” Think back to those days when Burlesque had its beginnings, when a glimpse of a thigh was scintillating, and shimmies scandalous. We invite dancers eager to incorporate a few elements of vintage burlesque in their belly dancing to reply to this email or contact us via Shimmyshowcase@gmail.com about performing. To avoid any misconceptions, please note the same “G-Rated” guidelines for all Shimmyshowcase programs apply to this one as well. All performances must be suitable for audience members of any age from 1 to 100!
