Antibalas on tour & ready to release album

ANTIBALAS TO RELEASE SECURITY MARCH 6th
Diverse Brooklyn Collective Sets U.S. Tour Dates

Antibalas, the acclaimed, socially and politically-minded group will release its Anti- debut on March 6th. Titled Security, the collective – with an active lineup of about a dozen musicians – recently wrapped work in Chicago with innovative producer John McEntire (Stereolab, Tom Ze) of Tortoise on the new disc. In conjunction with the disc’s release, Antibalas has set select U.S. tour dates for March and April.

One of the hardest-working bands on the planet, Antibalas celebrates the release of its fourth and newest full-length gem with Security. Pushing itself beyond the revolutionary Afrobeat blueprint the group used as a launching pad in the late ‘90s, Antibalas illustrates its penchant for taking chances, building on its acclaimed back catalog, and recent collaborations with the likes of TV on the Radio, Baaba Maal and Gomez.

Known worldwide over the last decade for its riveting afrobeat-laden concerts, social consciousness and for its previous albums and unique collaborations, Antibalas was enticed by McEntire to take a new approach. The seven new original compositions presented on Security unleash a previously unheard side of the group. Illustrating a darker, more dynamic tack that’s guaranteed to shock and dazzle new and old fans alike, this is music that was made to linger long after the party’s over.

Veterans of Festivals from Bonnaroo, Coachella and Bumbershoot to Glastonbury, Montreux and Roskilde, Antibalas has shared the stage and studio with the likes of Trey Anastasio and Medeski, Martin and Wood. Renowned worldwide, the group – whose name means “bulletproof” in Spanish – weaves a rich tapestry of latin, jazz, classical, funk and soul into its horn-driven approach.

Touted for its “edge like a straight razor” by Billboard, it’s not by chance that the Village Voice exclaimed “their music is right on time.” Elsewhere, Rolling Stone, The New York Times, New Yorker and a slew of others have taken serious notice, while XLR8R called Antibalas “the baddest on the block” and Pitchfork wrote, “They lead the pack.”
