Sundad to appear at Westchester Arts Council

www.sundad.com

As the name hints, Sundad is a father/son combo composed of father, John Eurell, Sr. and son, John Eurell, Jr. The father/son duo is backed by the world class percussionist Chet Soares and together the group is creating a new and exciting sound which they will present in concert at the Westchester Arts Council on Saturday, January 26, at 7:00 p.m.
Sundad is making their name as one of a new class of acoustic bands whose compositions, recordings, and live performances are filled with intricate rhythms and beautiful guitar harmonies that capture the heart and soul.
Sundad will be performing compositions from their popular CD, "Journey to Eternity," which has topped World/New Age radio show charts across the country. The Sundad CD was released in 2005, and immediately went straight to #3 on the New Age/World Radio spin charts. The CD was one of five nominees for Best New Artist 2005 and was also nominated for Best Acoustic Instrumental Album for 2005. The first track on the album, "Open Sesame," has been voted #1 Best Guitars all time in the World Fusion category at Garageband.com. The song has won a total of 24 individual awards.
The CD is available at Borders retail stores and through the internet at CDBaby.com, Amazon.com, BarnesandNobel.com, BestBuy.com and other internet music stores. It is also accessible on iTunes, MusicNet, EMusic and Rhapsody for digital downloading.
John Eurell, Sr. has been playing the guitar for over 40 years. His musical experience includes rock, blues, funk, disco and jazz. His unique style of playing and composing comes from a combination of all those genres. He performed for a number of years with Cliff Carter, longtime keyboardist and musical director for James Taylor and now Art Garfunkel.
John Eurell, Jr. is mainly self taught and has been playing the guitar for over 20 years. His musical experience includes hard rock, blues, funk, jazz and fusion. He also performs with the band Hieroglyph as the lead guitarist. Attending his father's gigs at an early age helped instill the love of music in him.
Chet Soares has been playing percussion for 34 years. He has studied extensively with Dom Um Romao who played with Weather Report, Sergio Mendes and Brazil 66, Frank Sinatra and others.
The musical chemistry that exists between the father and son guitarists, with the excellent percussion lines of Chet Soares puts their music in a whole new realm.
Also performing at the concert will be Giant of Jazz guitarist John Abercrombie along with guitarist Ken Wessel providing for a stellar set of guitar mastery.
The Westchester Arts Council was founded in 1965 on the belief that the arts are for everyone. Its mission has been to build support for artists and cultural organizations in Westchester, NY. The Sundad concert will help further that mission.
