SF's Noise Pop Festival lineup finalized

San Francisco’s Noise Pop Festival, which runs February 26 to March 2nd, has announced the final artist line-up. As always, the six-day event will wind down in style. This year’s closing show is the world premiere of She & Him, the new musical project from M. Ward and Zooey Deschanel. The duo headlines the Great American Music Hall on Sunday, March 2nd.
Other new band confirmations include: Quasi, Entrance, Working For A Nuclear Free City, White Denim, The Rosebuds, Great Northern, and Bay Area mood rockers, Film School These artists join previously announced headliners such as The Walkmen, Helio Sequence, The Dodos, MSTRKRFT, Stellastarr*, Magnetic Fields, The Mountain Goats, The Gutter Twins, Cursive, Blitzen Trapper, Fu Manchu, Kelly Stoltz, Tilly and the Wall and dozens more. The full schedule can be found at: http://noisepop.com/2008/schedule.php
In addition to music, Noise Pop will also feature a special live sketch comedy performance by Human Giant. The New York based troupe features writer/performers Aziz Ansari, Rob Huebel, and Paul Scheer. First gaining notoriety via a series of hilarious comedic shorts the comedians - along with fourth member, director Jason Woliner - brought their unique indie rock-informed antics to television with a self-titled series on MTV in 2007.
Building on last year’s success, Noise Pop will feature the second annual group art show, “Sights and Sounds.” Featuring original art from the music community, this year's show includes an eclectic line up of photographers, painters, and illustrators. A highlight of the show is a famed Wish Tree installation by Yoko Ono. Featured in many exhibitions by Yoko Ono since the 1990s, the Wish Tree enourages people to write their wish on a piece of paper and hang it on a tree branch.
“Sights Of Sounds” will also feature new works by Wesley Willis (Wesley Willis Fiasco), Jim Jocoy (punk rock Polaroid photography), Alissa Anderson (Vetiver), Terri Lowenthal (Rubies), Simone Rubi (Rubies), Tuffy (fine rock poster art), several Daytrotter illustrators and more. This show will be at Park Life in San Francisco, opening on February 27 and continuing through March 25.
