End o' week musings

I've dashed through a week of things I had to do, things I wanted to do and things I just did. The final days to the 31st Occasional Pasadena Doo Dah Parade are here and I think I may actually be ready for my big day.

Last week I tried out my new exercicse class on Saturday and wow! did I have a good workout! I followed it with an hour of yoga. I may actually be beach ready by summer! In the evening I danced at the Gem City Grill in Monrovia and had a very nice time.

At this point in time it's "everything NAMM" for me. For the unfamiliar, NAMM is a huge music trade show with products on display, musicians demonstrating instruments and signing autographs and more. It lasts four days. I was there for a while yesterday and will be returning today and tomorrow so I can bring more news to you.

I hope you will come out to meet me at one or all of the Doo Dah events on Sunday, here's the skinny:

SUN. 1/20 - the 31st OCCASIONAL DOO DAH PARADE IN PASADENA, 11:30am start time @ the corner of Raymond & Holly in Old Towne. Pre-parade all-you-can-eat pancake & egg breakfast right there at the Pasadena Senior Center at 8 a.m. is a great way to start the day. Then find yourself a piece of curb on Raymond or Colorado Blvd., (west to Pasadena Ave.) for the City's most wacky & wild event of the year! Bands, floats, drill teams, and the most colorful array of individuals gathered together anywhere, are sure to make you laugh and cheer until the very last tortilla flies!

OFFICIAL DOO DAH PARADE AFTER-PARTY, hosted by the Light Bringer Foundation, featuring live music from SNOTTY SCOTTY & THE HANKIES and HORSES ON ASTROTURF, immediately following at the AMERICAN LEGION HALL in East Pasadena. 179 N. Vinedo Ave. $5 admission, 21 & over. CHEAP food & drinks, raffles, more Doo Dah fun!

Next week I think I'm going to try to catch up on my sleep! Yeah, right!

In rotation this week: Tribe of Gypsies, Orange Sky, Joe Walla, Killola and (scary, I know) Britney Spears.

My thought for this week: Keep perspective. The last few months of my life have been weird. After being crowned Doo Dah Queen, I have been asked to pose for photos, sign autographs, make appearances, etc. etc. The demand can be wearing, yet exhilirating! The main thing is to stay grounded and don't let the attention get to my head. I'm also trying to enjoy this time as a highlight in my life, but not the denoument, as I don't want to sink into depression as I fade back into obscurity. Thinking on this has led me to put other facets of my life into better perspective as well and to find true happiness in the little things in life.

Keep on rockin'
Mickie
