New Orleans Blues Entertainer, Scott Detweiler, will celebrate the release of his VAVV Records Release during Mardi Gras Weekend on Saturday, February 2, 2008 at landmark Los Angeles area jazz venue, Jax Bar and Grill (339 N. Brand Boulevard, downtown Glendale, CA 91203).
He is one of the most important singing/guitarists to emerge from New Orleans in recent memory.

In March of 2007, Scott Detweiler walked into VAVV Recording Studios while scouting for a studio to produce a CD for a client. Ironically, he was offered a recording contract. Recording commenced a week later.

During the course of his career, spanning over 20 (twenty) years, Detweiler has independently released 8 cds and countless live cds; however, this marks his first affiliation with a recording company. Although he was actually offered 2 (two) other recording contracts, including one with a major label (both offers were declined by Detweiler because they would not agree to his terms), over the years he has been passed on by dozens of agencies, management companies, publishers and recording companies, including A&M, Atlantic, Geffen and Alligator.

“Made In New Orleans” contains 12 (eleven) original compositions from Detweiler’s vast catalog of music. The score for the new CD is over 50 (fifty) pages long.

Scott Detweiler has been the subject of recent interest, not only because he signed his first recording contract at age 44, but also because on October 6, 2007, at the Madrid Theatre in Canoga Park, he became the first blues artist to premiere an original blues chamber composition (his own “The Sun Will Rise”, based on the Katrina disaster) and then perform a set with his band in the same concert setting.

After studying jazz at Loyola in New Orleans and music composition at the University of New Orleans, Detweiler privately studied orchestration in the home of Ellis Marsalis. In Los Angeles, he studied writing for strings with Henry Mancini and lyric writing at with K.A. Parker.

He is endorsed by Peerless Guitars and Gomez Amplification.

VAVV Records recognizes Scott Detweiler as an important, original and prolific artist in the story of New Orleans music and will bring accelerated exposure to his artistry on an international level.
