Free Bollywood calss at the Ford

“Bollywood in Hollywood ” A FREE J.A.M. SESSION Event with
blue13 dance company at the Ford Amphitheatre June 30 at 7p.m.

The Energy & Spectacle of Bollywood Dance Taught to All Ages and Skill Levels

What: A sizzling and super-fun Bollywood bhangra dance party beneath the stars, with a live DJ, drums, and dance lessons with blue13 dance company, the stars of August's KHEL! at the Ford.

Who: Members of blue13 dance company
Since 1999, blue13 has created a name for itself as one company with two faces, performing live Neo-Kathak and Modern dance, as well as contemporary East Indian styles including Bollywood and Bhangra, classical Indian Kathak and Bharatanatyam. Their mission is to advance experimental and non-traditional contemporary dance, while preserving and cultivating the cultural and classical forms of India .

Artistic/Executive Director, Achinta S. McDaniel
Founder of blue13, Achinta S. McDaniel is a graduate of New York University , and has been performing and choreographing professionally since 1998. Achinta has been a dance instructor to children and adults of all levels for more than eight years, recently founding L.A. ’s The Blue School, the official school of blue13 dance company. She has worked as a choreographer both onstage and on screen in Los Angeles and New York for many years, and recently choreographed the soon to be released feature film, It’s a Mismatch, starring Anupam Kher and Nandana Sen, as well as the independent feature, Shut up and Shoot!

The “Jazzed and Motivated” J.A..M. Session events are part of the Ford Amphitheatre 2008 Season, a multi-disciplinary arts series produced by the Los Angeles County Arts Commission in cooperation with Los Angeles County-based arts organizations. Presented by the Ford Theatre Foundation, these sessions are designed to channel participant’s creative energies and release the artist within.
