Acclaimed pianist Eric Lewis will compose an orchestral score for the upcoming noir horror film, The Dark Country, directed by Thomas Jane. The Stage 6™ production marks Lewis’ maiden voyage as a Hollywood film composer as well as his transition into a bold and exciting genre of music. The Dark Country’s atmosphere will be further enhanced by the increasingly popular 3D technology fast becoming a staple in modern filmmaking.
Lewis, winner of the Thelonious Monk International Piano Competition, is known for generating a unique degree of excitement that has thrilled audiences around the world. Lewis has composed a number of scores for independent films and documentaries. Most recently, he scored Four Seasons Lodge, a Holocaust documentary by acclaimed New York Times journalist Andrew Jacobs. Now with The Dark Country, he joins the ranks of composers such as Mark Isham, Dave Grusin, James Horner, and Lalo Schifrin who have translated their instrumental brilliance to the Hollywood screen.
The Dark Country is a modern horror story adapted from the tale of the same name by writer Dennis Etchison. Director Thomas Jane, of such films as The Mist and The Punisher, along with Ron Perlman (Hellboy) and Lauren German (Hostel 2), will star in the feature. The Dark Country is Jane’s directorial debut.
