Nickel and Dime Records is pleased to announce the release of Los Difuntos “S/T” for worldwide distribution on November 18, 2008. This is the highly anticipated 11-track release from East LA’s favorite punk band. Included is the track “Lucy” which features Matt Freeman of Rancid. This record will appeal to fans of Tiger Army, Operation Ivy, The Clash, Rancid and Mad Sin. It’s also issued on colored vinyl LP.
Los Difuntos formed in 2003 and unleashed a hard charging EP in 2006, “Born’ Raised and Passed Away…” on Rancid Records – owned by Tim Armstrong and Lars Frederickson of Rancid. Led by the charismatic Christian Torres on vocals and guitar, the band toured and performed with Rancid in support of the EP, gaining news fans all along the way.
In 2007, Los Difuntos began recording their self-titled debut album. Produced by Michael Rozon and recorded in LA, the band crafted a brilliant album that fused the punk sounds of the Clash and Rancid with traditional rock and roll and psychobilly. Lyrically, the gifted Torres delves into his deeply intense life experiences growing up in East LA.
