Mudvayne on tour in support of new effort

As MUDVAYNE prepare an aural assault on America with "The New Game Tour 2008"--with dates from October 28 in El Paso, TX through December 20 in Orlando, FL--their current single "Do What You Do" is tearing up radio and proving to be the fastest-rising single of their career. In its first three weeks at radio, the song has already reached #7 at Active Rock and #26 at Modern Rock, according to BDS. Fans can tune into the nationally syndicated radio show "Rockline" on Monday, November 10 to hear a live interview with MUDVAYNE (check local listings for air times).

"Do What You Do" is the first radio track from THE NEW GAME, MUDVAYNE's first studio album in three years, due out November 18 via Epic Records. The deluxe special edition version of THE NEW GAME includes expanded packaging and artwork.

THE NEW GAME is an electrical storm of musical fury, a lesson in controlled chaos that tempers hard rock, heavy metal, prog rock and sadistic splatters of melody into an onslaught of metallic highs and emotional lows, rushing surges and pronounced blows. The album ups the ante for Mudvayne, one of the most creative and distinctive bands in the aggressive music world with sales exceeding 5 million units worldwide.

The band--CHAD GRAY (vocals), GREG TRIBBETT (guitars), RYAN MARTINIE (bass) and MATT MCDONOUGH (drums)--produced THE NEW GAME with Dave Fortman (Evanescence), capturing the wily charisma and hyper-kinetic energy of a band who survived their seven-year itch by embedding their claws into the heart of their music. And it shows.

"We wanted to grab you and spin you into oblivion with a contrast of movement and momentum," bassist Martinie explains.

At the lyrical helm of Mudvayne is Gray, whose personal inspirations cast a darker light on The New Game.

"Writing the record was a bit painful; it always is because I tend to wear my life on my sleeve and dig into what I'm doing and where I've been," he explains. "It's beautifully controlled chaos. There is an overall vibe of chaotic helplessness, loss and fear, and that's not something that I've experienced in putting a record together before. It's always been more esoteric and universal. This album is more about the inner workings of people. The album has a lot of anger and frustration, and there's a sense of wanting to kill, but it's through the eyes of different crazy characters."

Gray elaborates on some specific songs: "'Dull Boy' is the crazy guy just losing his mind, like Jack Nicholson in 'The Shining,' 'A New Game' is just twisted, then you've got the political songs from the perspective of a world leader, then the political songs from the perspective of being in the service. It's killing at different levels," he says. "Just because you're not pulling the trigger doesn't mean you're not killing people. I started to analyze all the different levels of consciousness and what made people feel and act that way. The album is like a psychological profile of a lot of different characters."

"Do What You Do" follows this theme. "People are created by the environment they're in," notes GRAY. "That's kind of the basis of the song, to be a better person, a better parent, a better friend, a better colleague. Be careful of the way you treat people and the path that you choose in life because your reactions have an effect on people."
