Background - UCLA vs USC
UCLA student Eun-Hye "Grace" Lee and USC Thornton student Jonathan Ong share a recital and will each perform solo selections. Then in a rare display of harmony between the two rival schools, Grace and Jonathan will perform a four-hands selection together.
A native of Korea, Grace Lee is a sophomore at UCLA majoring in music/piano performance under Professor Walter Ponce. She won top prizes in the 2006 Los Angeles International Liszt Competition, 2006 Glendale Piano Competition, 2006 MTAC Concerto Competition, which resulted in performing Mozart Concerto No. 21 in C Major with Glendale Youth Orchestra at the Alex Theater, 2006 Young Artist Competition sponsored by Friends of William Grant Still Arts Center, and the 2006 Southwestern Youth Music Festival, among numerous other awards and scholarships.
A native of Australia, Jonathan Ong is studying on full scholarship for his Masters of Music at USC, majoring in piano performance under the tutelage of Professor Kevin Fitz-Gerald. He made his orchestral debut at the age of ten with the Sydney Youth Orchestra. In 2006, Jonathan was awarded a scholarship to attend the Banff International Keyboard Festival. Most recently he won the Torrance Symphony Young Artists Competition (2008).
