Sweet's tour to raise awareness and benefit two charities

Premier rock band Sweet led by bassist/vocalist Steve Priest will continue their “Are You Ready Steve?” North American tour with a performance in San Diego to help raise awareness and funds for Rancho Bernardo United Coalition (RBUC) and the benefit “Promoting Healing Through Music” on Friday, October 24th on the Green at Qualcomm Stadium.

Sweet will be joined by Great White, Dokken and Asia to benefit the RBUC which is the home of the long term recovery center (LTRC) for Rancho Bernardo, and is one of six recovery teams whose mission is to provide and coordinate emotional, physical, financial and spiritual resources to help rebuild the homes and lives of families affected by the San Diego Wildfires of October 2007.

Doors open at 5 p.m. General seating is $50-$100, available through TicketMaster, www.ticketmaster.com, and at Albertsons in Poway, Rancho Bernardo, Rancho Penasquitos and Escodidos. VIP tickets packages — first 10 rows with meet-and-greet opportunities with band members -- are only available by contacting Love and Roll Productions at 858-395-3473, www.loveandrollproductions.com.

In additional to drawing big crowds at shows during their 2008 tour, a new generation of fans of all ages are learning about Sweet through various outlets. “Dancing With The Stars” is using “Ballroom Blitz” in its TV promos. Sweet songs have been featured in numerous movies including: Kate Hudson’s “My Best Friends Girl” (Love Is Like Oxygen), Mike Meyer’s “Wayne’s World” (Blitz,) “Dazed and Confused” (Fox on the Run,) Adrian Grenier’s “Drive Me Crazy” (Little Willy,) Joan Collins’ “The Stud” (Oxygen,) “Curse of the Crimson Altar (Fox) and “Hot Fuzz” (Blitz). Mitsubishi recently used Blitz for a car commercial and the many players of the mass appeal video game franchises “Guitar Hero” and “Rock Band” are becoming Sweet fans due their classic songs being featured in these games.

More concert dates will be announced shortly. Stay tuned to www.thesweetband.com and www.myspace.com/thesweetband.com for updates.
