Omar Cruz to be featured on MTV tr3s and "Descubre & Download"

Omar Cruz, the Los Angeles-based rapper intent on bringing Chicano lifestyle to the forefront, has been selected as the next breakout artist in Latin music by MTV Tr3s and will be featured on the network’s signature music discovery platform “Descubre & Download” through December 7th. As part of the six week “Descubre & Download” campaign, Cruz’s hit single and anthem to barrio struggle and success “To the Top,” featuring Frankie J, is available as a free download at mtvtr3s.com/music/downloads.

Recognized as one of the tightest West Coast emcees, Cruz is also known as “the lyrical assassin” for his raw verses about social injustice and daily life on the streets of L.A. He can also been seen as host of “Pimpeando” the MTV Tr3s series that hooks viewers up to Latino car culture on the West Coast and beyond (Mondays at 4 PM and 9 PM).

“I feel very blessed to be selected as a ‘Descubre & Download’ artist. As an MC all u want is for your music to be heard, and MTV Tr3s has given me the opportunity to do just that. It's been a long struggle as a Latino artist trying to make it in this industry, and I am grateful that through this platform I can reach millions worldwide. Mi gente, I'm just getting’ started, SIGN OF THE CRUZ IS COMING!," says Cruz.

Cruz is signed to Interscope and Geffen records and his debut album “Sign of the Cruz” will be out in 2009. The album will feature The Game, Frankie J, and Grammy winning Epic artist, Los Lonely Boys. Producers on the record include Cool Dre, B.Y.I and Rome Julian Bunneta who produced "To the Top".

“MTV Tr3s selected Omar as a ‘Descrubre & Download’ artist because he represents the mixture of hip hop and Latin sounds happening on the west coast. His lyrics and flow reflect the reality of the streets in L.A.,” said Michael Galbe, Vice President, Music and Talent, MTV Tr3s.
