Paddy's Pig at the Coffee Gallery Backstage and beyond

Formed at the curly-tailed end of the twentieth century, southern California-based Paddy's Pig performs lively renditions of traditional, recent and original Irish and Celtic music

Missy Gibson, with her striking and distinctive lead vocals, is a feisty and fun lass, and a rare treat in the male-dominated world of Irish pub music. She is joined by Mike Flanagan on mandolin, lead and backing vocals, pennywhistle and guitar, Martin Beal on guitar and Damon Pipitone on drums and backing vocals.

Although the band has entertained audiences all over the West Coast, this is their first time performing at The Coffee Gallery Backstage and they’re very much looking forward to it!

Equally at home playing barn-burners like "The Blacksmith" and the Pogues' "Sally MacLennane", heart-wrenching ballads ("He Fades Away" and "She Moved Through the Fair"), classic traditional tunes ("Loch Lomand" and "Whiskey in the Jar"), original compositions, or the occasional jig or reel, Paddy's Pig never fails to get the audience involved. At The Coffee Gallery performance, the band will also be throwing in a few holiday songs, Celtic style.

Paddy’s Pig latest CD “Maple and Wire” was released at the end of summer and can be heard on Celtic Radio, including being selected as a featured CD on their website.

Celtic Radio says ”Paddy’s Pig play traditional Irish tunes with a little bit of humor and lots of energy …they have a great sound which reflects this fine group of musician’s abilities”. The band is also excited to have been selected to headline the Autry Museum’s “Wine, Whiskey and Song” whiskey tasting event taking place on Saturday, November 15, 2008.

Avoiding the “Paddy Punk” swagger of many of their contemporaries, as well as staid folk-song traditionalisms, Paddy’s Pig brings a unique voice with broad appeal to the Celtic music world of southern California. Don’t miss this unique opportunity to see Paddy’s Pig debut performance at The Coffee Gallery Backstage!
