Earlier this year, multiple Barbados Music Award winner David Kirton (www.davidkirton.com) was a smash hit once again at South By Southwest in Austin, where he blew away the crowd at The Parish and Flamingo Cantina with his trademark song “Green Camouflage” and other tunes from his recording Time For Change.

The modern roots reggae rocker is now becoming a musical ambassador for his native island in Germany, where there is an ongoing explosion of passion for all things Caribbean these days.

Kirton's track “Barbados Home” is included on Sound Trip Barbados, an exclusive CD compilation produced by Reise Know-How (www.reise-know-how.de), a German based publishing house that offers journey, language and culture guides, maps and specialty books for travelers. Reise Know-How is renowned for providing current information in the smallest detail for worldwide destinations.

In 2007, the 24 year old company began releasing travel compilation CDs to give audio impressions of the countries that tourists were traveling to. “Barbados Home” was the song that Reise Know-How chose to lead off the Barbados compilation.

“Tourism is Barbados’ top industry,” says Noelle Attaway Kirton of Birdseye Music, Inc., “with over 1,000,000 people visiting the 14 x 22 mile rock that is positioned with the Caribbean Sea framing its jet set five star west coast and the Pacific Ocean bordering the rugged and untamed east coast. Culture generated tourism is a focal point of the government, and artists like David Kirton, Rhianna, Shontelle and Hal Linton lead the concept. Compilations like these give a new face to the island’s experience and David’s fluency in German make him a natural fit for the project.”

Next month, Kirton is returning to Southern California for four exciting performances. He plays Sunday, August 16 at Mozambique in Laguna Beach, Wednesday August 19 at The Mint in Los Angeles and Sunday, August 23 at the Levitt Pavilion in Macarthur Park in L.A. He will be performing his recently released kids’ album Island Songs for Children at the Macarthur Park show. David travels to Santa Barbara on Tuesday, August 25 for a performance at Sandbar.
