LA County Arts Commission accepting application for coaches training program

The Los Angeles County Arts Commission is now accepting applications for the Arts for All Coaches Training Program, a new professional development opportunity for advanced education and/or arts education practitioners. The program prepares practitioners to provide customized support to Arts for All school districts through one-on-one coaching services. Application deadline is 5:00 p.m. PST, May 19, 2010 (emailed, postmarked or faxed).

Applicants should have at least 10 years working experience as a teacher, school administrator, educational consultant or arts education provider; direct experience working district-wide or across multiple districts; and demonstrated knowledge of the Arts for All initiative or experience working with an Arts for All school district.

Successful applicants will be enrolled in a three-day training program happening June 8-10 in Los Angeles (location to be determined). The training will equip participants with coaching skills in the New Teacher Center’s Blended Coaching model, a nationally recognized program with a proven track record of improving the capacity of instructional leaders in school districts across the country. If accepted, participants are required to pay a registration fee of $75.00. The actual per person cost of the training is $1,050 and is generously subsidized by The Wallace Foundation.

Up to 30 coaches will be trained to support Arts for All school district staff as they create a district arts education policy and plan, implement their arts education plan, develop their advocacy capacity, and/or secure funding streams. This program does not guarantee work, but as new programs and services are developed, Arts for All will be looking to this cadre of coaches as providers and consultants.
