Epitaph artists news

UPCOMING/CURRENT RELEASES:

· May 25 – Veara – What We Left Behind – The quirky foursome from Augusta, GA, made up of Bradley Wyrosdick (Vocals), Patrick Bambrick (Vocals/Guitar), Bryan Kerr (Vocals/Bass) and Brittany Harrell (Drums), has officially arrived on the scene with their highly energetic new album, What We Left Behind. Co-produced by A Day To Remember frontman Jeremy McKinnon and master of the boards Andrew Wade (A Day To Remember, Our Last Night), Veara’s sophomore release draws influence from genre groundbreakers like New Found Glory and Blink 182, while boasting a sharp contemporary edginess that will rapidly elevate them within the scene.

· June 8 – Refused – The Shape Of Punk To Come (Deluxe Edition) – Epitaph Records has announced plans to release a Deluxe Edition of one of the most influential hardcore albums of all time, The Shape of Punk to Come, from groundbreaking Swedish band Refused on June 8. Originally released in 1998, The Shape of Punk to Come “blurs the lines that separate punk, metal and hardcore, while peppering this brutal fusion with bits of techno percussion, jazzy rhythmic change-ups and long, complex song structures that support politically-charged messages,” (CMJ, 1998). Refused’s most critically acclaimed and final album exploded on the scene with the jaw-dropping hardcore anthem “New Noise,” which Rage Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello once described as “one of the great rock jams of all time” (Filter, 2006), and helped change the game forever influencing a range of genres still to this day. www.officialrefused.com

· June 8 – Off With Their Heads – In Desolation – Fresh off vigorous performances at SXSW, rabble-rousing punk rock group Off With Their Heads have announced plans to release their Epitaph Records’ debut album, In Desolation, on June 8. Produced by Off With Their Heads and Jacques Wait at the Terrarium in Minneapolis, In Desolation is 34 minutes of non-stop gut wrenching honesty. From its first track, “Drive,” a petal-to-the-metal opener about Young’s incessant habit of over thinking things and becoming his own worst critic, to the harsh reality of OD’ing on the sobering yet rowdy song “Trying to Breath” and the explosive middle-finger-in-the-air sing along “Their Own Medicine,” In Desolation is authentic punk rock to its core from a working band who lives and breathes it every day. www.myspace.com/offwiththeirheads

· June 15 – Epitaph Records – New Noise Vol. 1 – Punk rock’s leading independent label Epitaph Records has announced plans to launch a new compilation series titled New Noise that will showcase the label’s amazing arsenal of bands and artists. The first in the series, New Noise Vol. 1, will be available for the incredibly low price of $2.99 beginning June 15 at all digital media stores and physical copies will only be available as a limited edition at this summer’s Vans Warped Tour. The comp features hot new music from Alkaline Trio, Set Your Goals, Sing It Loud, Our Last Night, Frank Turner, Off With Their Heads, New Found Glory, Every Time I Die, Street Dogs, Parkway Drive, Heartsounds, Escape The Fate, I Set My Friends On Fire and Heartsounds.

· June 15 – Heartsounds – Until We Surender – Formed from the ashes of now defunct melodic death-metal band Light This City, Heartsounds consists of founding members Laura Nichol (guitars/vocals) and Ben Murray (guitars/vocals) who after growing tired of banging heads decided to return to their true love…punk rock. Until We Surrender is a heart-pounding throwback to 90’s punk era, focused on the faster and more technical aspects of its style with elements of pop-punk and indie sensibilities all mixed in together. Murray put’s it best in his lyric “I’ve found my true calling, and it’s never sounded so fucking good.” www.myspace.com/heartsoundsband

· June 29 – Parkway Drive – Deep Blue – Australia’s masters of metal-core Parkway Drive are set to cement their reputation as one of the most dominant exponents of heavy hardcore on the planet with their spellbinding third album, Deep Blue, which is ready for release on June 29 via Epitaph Records. The hotly anticipated follow-up to 2007’s Horizons, Deep Blue raises the bar in every conceivable way. While maintaining the band’s uncompromising metallic-hardcore style at its core, it pushes into exciting new realms, drawing from a wider scope of influence, incorporating everything from anthemic pop-punk to bloodcurdling death metal. IN-STUDIO:

· Bad Religion – Three decades after recording their first incendiary songs as teenagers reared in the budding hardcore scene in Los Angeles, Bad Religion are marking their 30 year anniversary with a new record, filled with both the free thinking ire that has fueled the band from the very beginning, and a certain introspection that comes only from long-lived experience. Working again with producer Joe Barresi (Queens Of The Stone Age, Tool), Bad Religion entered the studio armed with 16 songs that are filled with deeply personal experiences, cautionary tales and a developing worldview, spanning the gauntlet from their signature high energy punk rock to a more introspective melodic sound.

· Social Distortion – Epitaph Records most recent addition, Social Distortion entered a Burbank studio in March to record their yet to be titled seventh studio album, produced by Mike Ness, which is slated for release this fall. “We went back to tape, old compressors and old microphones,” Ness recently told Spinner.com. “We’re just really trying to fight modern technology as much as possible. The record reminds me very much of Somewhere Between Heaven and Hell (the band’s 1992 release), but also I'm bringing elements of early New York '70s punk," said Ness.
