Celtic Thunder releases new holiday album

Bringing together their affinity for a great popular song with outstanding live performances, Irishmen Damian McGinty, Keith Harkin, Paul Byrom, Ryan Kelly and Scotsman George Donaldson of Celtic Thunder pay homage to cherished holiday favorites on their new album Christmas. The acclaimed show will hit the road beginning September 25th in Buffalo, NY performing a total of 62 shows across the U.S. Christmas will be available October 12th on Decca.

Celtic Thunder’s heart-warming new CD marks their 4th studio recording and first-ever Christmas album. Celtic Thunder- Christmas was produced by Sharon Browne and longtime collaborator Phil Coulter and features holiday standards such as “It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas,” “Let It Snow,” “Winter Wonderland” and “Silent Night” as well as a few specially written originals, “Going Home For Christmas” and “Our First Christmas Together”. On tour dates after Thanksgiving audiences will be enthralled by Celtic Thunder’s unique interpretations of these seasonal classics as they incorporate these holiday tunes into the second set of their show.

Since the airing of their first Public Television special in 2008, Celtic Thunder consistently remains one of the most popular musical acts for stations throughout the country. Hailed as BILLBOARD’s Top world music artist and Top World Imprint of 2009, the phenomenon that is Celtic Thunder has achieved sales of over 600,000 copies to date. Their mass appeal and devoted fan base continues to grow with impressive statistics to prove it. Celtic Thunder’s official YouTube channel, “Thunder Tube” has seen over 11 million upload views and 493,000 channel views since the channel’s inception in summer 2008.

In addition to appearing in three hugely successful Public Television specials, including the most recent smash hit It's Entertainment, Celtic Thunder has also performed on the CBS Saturday Show’s Second Cup CafĂ©, the Today Show and wowed thousands with multiple appearances on QVC. The New York Times described the group as “a Fab Five peddling Celtic stylings…steadfast George, sensitive Keith, bruising Paul, caddish Ryan and angelic Damian.”
