“Gilded Age Holiday” Decorating Salon and Tours this Fall

Discover a “new” technique that’s actually centuries old, enhance your own décor with period touches, and immerse yourself in the beauty and traditions of holiday decorating through the years at these special programs presented by Pasadena Museum of History this Fall.

Artful Gifting – Festive Holiday Luncheon and Salon Workshop

Brown paper packages tied up with strings would not have been one of a Victorian lady’s favorite things! Ribbons, glitter, embossed paper images, borders, braid and edgings gave gifts, table favors and home decor of the era elegance and unique style. Enjoy a festive holiday Luncheon while creative gift stylist/decorator Cathy Vital of Ta-dah! presents holiday decorating tips with a nod to the Gilded Age. At the hands-on workshop following your meal, you’ll find out just how quick and easy it is to make vintage-style enhancements for your own gifts and décor.

Gilded Holidays – Exhibition Tour and Tea

Enjoy the beauty and history of Victorian/Edwardian-style holiday décor as trained docents tour you through the Pasadena Patron exhibition at Pasadena Museum of History, which will be gilded to the rafters for the holiday season. Stories of long-ago holiday celebrations – Pasadena-style – will share the spotlight with details of the decorating styles of the early 1900s that were the genesis of so many of today's cherished traditions.

Complete the festive afternoon with a special Holiday Tea at The Raymond Restaurant, originally the caretaker's cottage of the famed Raymond Hotel.
