Trini Lopez coming to San Manuel in December

Thursday, December 2, 2010, San Manuel Indian Bingo & Casino welcomes Mr. La Bamba, Trini Lopez to the Inland Empire and the San Manuel stage. Tickets are available at Ticketmaster.com and the San Manuel Box Office for $20 and $30.

With the guitar his father gave him, Trini Lopez quickly became one of the premier guitarist and songwriters of the early 1960’s. His debut album “Trini Lopez Live at PJ’s” contained the hit track “If I Had a Hammer”, which was on the Top 40 for 48 consecutive weeks, hit #1 in 38 different countries and sold over five million copies worldwide. It was on this same album, the “La Bamba” phenomenon took place.

With its hypnotic beat, “La Bamba” has endured three generations of music listeners, and Lopez himself is credited with writing the song lyrics as we know them today, earning him the nickname Mr. La Bamba. “La Bamba” was even a very successful major motion picture.. Lopez befriended many famous musicians along his career including Buddy Holly, the Beatles, Elvis Presley, Johnny Carson and Frank Sinatra, who all mentored him in one form or another. His rising stardom and versatile celebrity friends cleared a path for Lopez to act. He appeared in “Marriage on the Rocks” with Frank Sinatra, “The Dirty Dozen” and the classic television show “Adam-12”.

More recently, Lopez has earned attention for career achievements. Awards such as an International Recording Award in 2006 on the Palm Springs Walk of Stars, a Lifetime Entertainment Achievement Award in 2007 from Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, a dedication to Lopez on the Las Vegas Walk of Stars in 2008, where in the same year Las Vegas proclaimed May 15, 2008 Trini Lopez Day.

Every Thursday night with headliner entertainment, San Manuel gives away $1,000 just for seeing the show.
