Music, Martinis & the Maestro series back in Pasadena March 20

From 2004 to 2008, one of the California Philharmonic’s most popular events was Music, Martinis and the Maestro, where many of LA’s most talented musicians got together on a Sunday afternoon to perform chamber music in an intimate setting. Once again, music lovers will have an opportunity to sip martinis (or the cocktails of their choice) while hearing works by composers from Pachelbel to Gershwin when Cal Phil officially revives Music, Martinis and the Maestro at “Brilliant Brass” on Sunday, March 20 at 1 p.m. at the Noor Sofia Ballroom at Paseo Colorado in Pasadena.

“We call this series Music, Martinis and the Maestro because the title describes exactly what the event offers,” says Mindy Kernc, General Manager. “There is music and, yes, cocktails and hors d’oeuvres are available for purchase. But what is truly unique about this chamber music event is that we also provide the audience with a chance to meet Victor Vener, the founder and Maestro of Cal Phil, at a pre-concert lecture…or perhaps I should call it a preconcert Q and A. The audience is always encouraged to ask both our Maestro and the musicians performing any questions they may have about what they will hear.”

Cal Phil is also pleased to be able to present Music, Martinis and the Maestro at a new location, the newly renovated Noor Sofia Ballroom. “The audience is seated at tables in a venue that is truly as beautiful as the music,” says Kernc. “And Noor provides a spectacular view of the mountains and City Hall. I can’t think of a better place to while away a Sunday afternoon while listening to great music.”
