Penny Nichols & Severin Browne Legendary singer/songwriter Penny Nichols will be performing at the Coffee Gallery Backstage for the first time in 20 years. Penny is one of the Orange County singer/songwriters who played many times at the Ice House, Troubadour and Ash Grove in the 60's and helped to influence many songwriters at the time and after. She was one of the first of the Coral Reeferettes in the Jimmy Buffett band and was nominated for a Grammy 3 years running for her work on albums by Buffett, Art Garfunkle and Arlo Guthrie as a vocal arranger and background singer. After getting a doctorate in music ed. from Harvard, she has gone on to produce a number of beautiful CD's and is the founding director of SummerSongs; a non-profit organization for Songwriters that meets twice a year in Cambria, CA..


Severin Browne, a former Motown songwriter/singer/recording artist, sings songs that lift your spirits and send you on your way with a smile. Since leaving Motown, he has made two CDs and is currently working on a third. Known for performing the songs that he loves, not just those that he writes, he sings some of the funniest songs around and follows them up with ones that touch your heart.
