Theatre 360 holding kids' auditions for 'Hairspray' June 4

Theatre 360 Productions, in its 10th season, is casting for their summer MainStage Production, Hairspray.

It’s 1962, and pleasantly plump Baltimore teen Tracy Turnblad has only one desire – to dance on the popular Corny Collins Show. When her dream comes true, Tracy is transformed from social outcast to sudden star, but she must use her newfound power to vanquish the reigning Teen Queen, win the affections of heartthrob Link Larkin and integrate a TV network – all without denting her ‘do! Broadway’s musical-comedy phenomenon that inspired a major motion picture and won eight 2003 Tony Awards, including Best Musical.

Auditions will be held June 4 9:00am-1:00pm (sign-in 8:30am). Students auditioning will need to sing 32 bars of a contemporary pop song. Sounds like a fun show. One of the harder spots to fill will be "Motormouth Maybelle", which was played by the immortal Ruth Brown in the original movie. And someone will have to "clue in" the children of the 21st Century about the significance of Crystal, Ronette and Chiffon.
