La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts is thrilled to announce it will begin its second season of screening National Theatre Live’s productions, in glorious high-definition, at their beautiful theatre in La Mirada.
NATIONAL THEATRE LIVE’S THIRD SEASON INCLUDES:
“ONE MAN, TWO GUVNORS” - OCTOBER 9, 2011 at 7pm
Nicholas Hytner’s sold-out, five star production of ONE MAN, TWO GUVNORS, by Richard Bean based on The Servant of Two Masters by Carlo Goldoni, with songs by Grant Olding. James Corden stars in ‘one of the funniest productions in the National’s history’ (The Guardian), returning to the National for the first time since he premiered in the original cast of The History Boys. The ‘classic comedy, hilariously updated’ (The Times) transfers to London’s West End in November.
“THE KITCHEN” - NOVEMBER 13, 2011 at 7pm
Arnold Wesker's extraordinary play premiered at the Royal Court in 1959 and has since been performend in over 30 countries. THE KITCHEN puts the workplace center stage in a blackly funny and furious examination of live lived at breakneck speed, when work threatens to define who we are. The Kitchen features an ensemble of 30 people and is set in a kitchen, using real food and with actors acutally cooking and preparing food on stage -- it's a tour de force spectacle.
“COLLABORATORS” - JANUARY 13, 2012 at 8pm
COLLABORATORS, a new play by John Hodge (screenwriter of Trainspotting, Shallow Grave, The Beach) directed by Nicholas Hytner. The play centers on an imaginary encounter between Joseph Stalin and the playwright Mikhail Bulgakov. Alex Jennings will play Bulgakov and Simon Russell Beale will play Stalin.
“THE COMEDY OF ERRORS” - MARCH 18, 2012 at 2pm
Dominic Cooke, director of the celebrated Royal Court Theatre in London, makes his National Theatre debut directing a new production of Shakespeare's delirious romp through mistaken identity, THE COMEDY OF ERRORS. Famed UK comedian and actor Lenny Henry performs the role of Antipholus of Syracuse.
More productions will be announced as information becomes available.
NATIONAL THEATRE LIVE performances are filmed live in high definition and broadcast via satellite to over 300 cinemas around the world, live in Europe and some US cities, and time-delayed in countries further afield. There are over 75 venues in the UK alongside venues in the USA, Canada, Australia, South Africa, Scandinavia and Europe. The performances at the National are nominated in advance to allow cameras greater freedom in the auditorium.
