Claudia Lynch's art on billboards in San Bernardino Dec. 2

Some people dream of seeing their names in lights, but Louisiana
artist Claudia Lynch is more than willing to settle for seeing her
artwork on a billboard.

If you happen to be traveling south on the Corona Freeway (I-15) in
San Bernardino on Friday, December 2, don’t be surprised if traffic is
moving just a little more slowly than usual. For one day only, works
by dozens of artists, including Lynch’s ShoeStories™, will be shown
on a video billboard there, as part of The Billboard Art Project.

But look fast: You’ll have just 6 seconds to read each segment of the
pulp fiction detective stories in her ShoeStories™ series.

“It’s like a silent movie, where the words are read on the screen
rather than being heard”, says Lynch. “It’s also a little like an
early Betty Boop or Popeye cartoon, with plenty of humorous and sexy
you-get-it-you-get-it-you-don’t-you-don’t puns and innuendo. The
stories have been segmented to fit the 6-second duration of each
image, and of course, they’ve been edited with an eye to family
traffic.”

Each detailed painting of a stiletto shoe in the ShoeStories™ series
is accompanied by an original story, loaded with witty puns and clever
innuendo, narrated by a hard-boiled skirt chaser right out of a 1940’s
detective novel. Exaggerated proportions make each heel impossibly
high and impossibly sexy. Right away, you’re in the mood to surrender
to every tongue-in-cheek double meaning in the otherwise innocent words.

This is not just a one-shot deal. Lynch has two short “movies” in the
San Bernardino edition of the Billboard Art Project; Foot Prince
features three fairy-tale inspired ShoeStories™ and Holiday Heels
features five pieces revolving around the Christmas holiday. To enjoy
