KAILIN YONG PEACE PROJECT TRIO

If global peace has a soundtrack, this will be it...

Daniel Pearl Memorial Violin recipient, Kai Lin Yong will bring his trio of violin, cello and middle eastern percussion to The Coffee Gallery Backstage on April 20, 2012. This ensemble is a smaller, more intimate version of his much acclaimed Kai Lin Yong Peace Project, a 7-piece world folk/jazz orchestra formed in the autumn of 2008 to promote peace, friendship and cross-cultural understanding in the world through music.

The group will perform Kai Lin's original music based on his exploration of the diverse folk cultures of the world to demonstrate the concept and possibility of a global village, where we all come from different places and backgrounds, but through openness, acceptance, understanding and love, are able to co-exist in harmony. "Originally from Singapore and trained in Austria at the Vienna Academy Of Music, Kailin has spent much of the last 10 years exploring music from around the world as well as developing his own voice on the violin. A firm believer in the power of music to heal and to bring people together, Kailin has dedicated most of his creative energy to using music to promote social, spiritual and environmental peace. His original music describes vividly his vision of a global village where people of different creeds and cultures can coexist in harmony. Known as the “fiddler for peace” he was the recipient of the prestigious Daniel Pearl Memorial Violin in 2004 for his efforts to bridge cultural gaps and to inspire peace and hope through music. He currently fronts the Kailin Yong Peace Project and was the 2010 artist-in-residence at the Boulder Public Library."

Friday, April 20. Show @ 8:00 P.M. Tickets: $18.00
