"Women" art exhibit opening in NoHo March 17

The Art Directors Guild’s (IATSE Local 800) Gallery 800 announces its third art exhibition of 2012, "Women: Ideas, Images & Interpretations,” opening Saturday, March 17, 2012 with a hosted reception from 5-8:00 p.m. The exhibit will feature works relating to the subject of women in celebration of Women’s History Month. Located in the heart of the Historic NoHo Arts District, Gallery 800 showcases ADG members’ art in a series of eight shows throughout the year. “Women: Ideas, Images & Interpretations” will run through April 27, 2012.

The March 17th reception will feature more than 90 original pieces, refreshments, music by Jazz trio “Just In Time” and complimentary valet parking. Thirty artists, both male and female, from all crafts within Local 800 will participate in this exhibition.

A sample of the talented artists participating include:

• Mike Denering – Iron Man 2 (2010), Seven Pounds (2008), Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End (2007), Spider-Man 3 (2007), The 40 Year Old Virgin (2005), Spider-Man 2 (2004), Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl (2003), Spider-Man (2002)
• Antoinette J. Gordon – G.I. Jane (1997), The Shawshank Redemption (1994), Pretty Woman (1990), The Bodyguard (1992)
• Dean Sherriff – Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol (2011), Rise of the Planet of the Apes (2011), Red Riding Hood (2011), X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009), Watchmen (2009), X-Men: The Last Stand (2006), X2 (2003)

Additional artists include Melody Harrop (Justified), Wright McFarland (Green Lantern), Katy Moore-Kozachik (Contagion), Barbara Mesney (Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy), Joel Schiller (The Muppet Movie), Martin Mercer (Rise of the Planet of the Apes) among many others.

During the day, these artists are leading design professionals, who through a combination of observation, passion and imagination, bring the writer's words and the director's vision to life in television and film. When not working every day as integral creative members of the entertainment community, they contribute to the fine art scene with their personal artwork. Since Gallery 800 opened its doors in March 2009, over 420 ADG members have shown their artwork in the ongoing exhibitions.

Representing Gallery 800 are Curator Denis Olsen, and Coordinator Debbie Patton. Gallery 800’s mission is to promote the works of talented entertainment industry professionals, in an intimate venue, on a personal level. Gallery 800 hours are: Thursday through Saturday 2-8 p.m. and Sunday 2-6 p.m. Gallery 800 is located at: 5108 Lankershim Blvd. at the Historic Lankershim Arts Center, North Hollywood, CA 91601.
