NYC’s Midnight Magic have taken over airwaves and dance floors alike with their own blend of funk, soul, and electro-tinged disco. The nine-piece ensemble includes Carter Yasutake, Morgan Wiley, Nick Roseboro, Jason Disu and W. Andrew Raposo, all alumnae of many celebrated DFA bands, including the late LCD Soundsystem, setting a solid foundation for the vocal stylings of frontwoman Tiffany Roth. Having won over audiences with their massive club hit “Beam Me Up” and released an EP earlier this year on their own Midnight Sun Sound label, Midnight Magic have released their new “I Found Love” single, a collaboration with Tommie Sunshine, on August 7th. The single is available at digital retailers including iTunes & Amazon.
“I Found Love” draws on the classic elements of disco, with funky bass lines, bouncing piano, powerhouse lead vocals, and pops of bright horns. The single package contains a synth-heavy remix by Tommie Sunshine & Disco Fries with a driving beat that’s perfectly suited for the dance floor. NYC-based producer, remixer, label owner, and DJ Tommie Sunshine wrote, recorded, and produced “I Found Love” with Midnight Magic in a matter of days. It was recorded and tracked in live takes and mixed at James Murphy's Plantain Studio. Tommie became enamored with the band after hearing a remix of their hit “Beam Me Up” and seeing a mind-blowing live performance, and he describes his relationship with the band throughout their collaboration as a perfect match: “They brought their Midnight Magic. I brought a head full of 70's Disco, early 80's Chicago House and the piano driven dance music of New York in the 90's. What we found was love. Now that love is yours. Treat it right and it will love you back."
