Until June to release new album

UNTIL JUNE is back with their new sophomore release on Madison Line Records, available for fans on August 21. The alternative rock band originally from Seattle, featuring brothers Josh and Dan Ballard (keyboards/vocals and guitar, respectively); and Daniel Dempsey (drums), has crafted a collection of songs titled YOUNG & FOOLISH. Their first single, “What Went Wrong,” was just shipped to radio and is available on iTunes. The entire album can be sampled at www.untiljune.com.

UNTIL JUNE has had placements on national television shows such as“Grey’s Anatomy,” “Private Practice,” MTV’s “Real World,” “Jersey Shore” and “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” from their self-titled debut UNTIL JUNE CD and SOUND OF DEFEAT EP. Five years after they first emerged with their international hit single “Sleepless,” the band is back with more selections for fans to explore. “Sleepless” created a firestorm in Europe, becoming a #1 hit single for 28 weeks and a #1 video in Greece; the single also hit #4 in Norway and #7 in Finland. The band’s success led to two U.S. tours and two tours of Southeast Asia, including performances in China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Vietnam and Hong Kong.

“Our first two albums showed our great love of pop music,” says Josh, “but they didn’t reflect the influences of more sonically progressive bands like Mew and Radiohead, which are our favorites. We decided that the most artistic way to present the songs on YOUNG & FOOLISH to our audience was not just about how the melodies or chord progressions were constructed – but also the way my vocals came across. He continues, “We didn’t want to have them right in your face like typical pop tracks, but rather tucked underneath. There’s more of a mystique if you do it that way, because it allows the listener to take what they want from the song emotionally.”

After working with noted producers Brian Garcia (Avril Lavigne, Kelly Clarkson and Our Lady Peace) and Dave Darling (Brian Setzer, Tom Waits, Jack Johnson) on their first two projects (UNTIL JUNE and SOUND OF DEFEAT, respectively), the trio recorded YOUNG & FOOLISH in Dempsey’s East L.A. studio, and produced the 10-song collection themselves. Once the tracks were recorded, they brought in Grammy Award winning mixer Kevin Killen (U2, Peter Gabriel, Shakira, Sugarland, Elvis Costello) to help them achieve the atmospheric blend of Josh Ballard’s falsetto-inflected vocals underneath Dan’s guitars.

The band plans to tour later this year, dates to be announced.
