Descanso Gardens to offer A Christmas Carol Dec. 8 and 15

 "A Christmas Carol," Charles Dickens' classic redemption tale, will come to Descanso Gardens this December. Tickets are now on sale at ticketweb.com.

California Shakespeare Ensemble will stage four family-friendly readings of the holiday classic in the Boddy House. The actors will present the reading in an intimate setting, and the historic house will be decorated for the season. This is a return appearance for the theatrical troupe, which performed "Twelfth Night" at Descanso in the spring.

"A Christmas Carol" will be presented at 1:30 and 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 8 and 15. Tickets, priced at $15, are available online only at ticketweb.com. Seating is limited -- early orders are encouraged.

Seating is auditorium style, with blankets on the floor at the front for youngsters to sit on. This is an edited version of the original novella aimed at a family audience (recommended for ages 7 and older). Refreshments -- both adult and child-appropriate -- will be available for purchase.
