Pasadena tree lighting celebration Dec. 6

Come join Pasadena Mayor Bill Bogaard light the City’s Official Holiday Tree during a free, festive celebration with local singers, dancers, art projects for kids and a special appearance by Santa Claus!  It all happens from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 6 at City Hall, in the Rotunda, 100 N. Garfield Ave.

Joining Mayor Bogaard to help light the tree at 6:00 p.m. sharp will be Amanda Alissa Perez, 21, Miss Pasadena 2013.  City Officials have it on good authority that after the tree is lit, Santa Claus promises to make a special appearance.  Parents and guardians should bring their own cameras to snap a special holiday picture of Santa with your children.

Entertainment will be provided before and after the tree lighting by Pasadena Idol 2012 winner Chelsea J; the Blair IB Singers from Blair High School; the Hamilton Dance Troupe and the Hamilton Adventure Program Singers, both from Hamilton Elementary School.

In addition, Pasadena’s Armory Center for the Arts will be hosting special “Holiday Crafts from the Around World” for young people to do.  The crafts will highlight the holiday celebrations of cultures from around the globe.

The Pasadena Fire Department also will be collecting new, unwrapped toys from attendees able to donate a gift for needy children as part of the annual “Spark of Love” Toy Drive sponsored by the Fire Department with the local ABC television station.

Light refreshments will be served.  The event is organized by the City’s Human Services and Recreation Department, with help from the Mayor’s Office, the Department of Public Works, Pasadena Water & Power, the Fire Department and the City Manager’s Office.
