Melody Walker & Jacob Groopman in Altadena March 8

San Francisco Bay Are based Melody Walker & Jacob Groopman bring their brand of acoustic folkpop to the Coffee Gallery Backstage in Altadena, CA on Friday, March 8. They call it "Americali", or Americana with a California twist. That twist could be their eclectic roots, from bluegrass and old-time music to afrobeat and samba, or their open-hearted, unconventional approach to songwriting, setting them apart from their peers in the folk duo world. Friday, March 8 marks their fifth time down to the Los Angeles area, with previous performances at the Hotel Cafe and the Cinema Bar among others.

Fresh off winter shows with David Bromberg and Laurie Lewis, and 120+ dates last year, Melody Walker & Jacob Groopman are redefining the "folk duo". They bring grassy roots with a tinge of blue, and great original songwriting without pretense. Their 2012 debut album Gold Rush Goddess received national radio airplay, critical acclaim, and was named one of No Depression's top 50 albums of 2012. Walker & Groopman are also leading members of the 2012 RockyGrass band competition winner, Front Country.

The Coffee Gallery is located at 2029 Lake Avenue, Altadena, CA. The show starts at 8pm and tickets are available for $15 at the door.  Homesick Elephant open. More info at: www.coffeegallery.com
