The Hush Sound to tour

The Hush Sound have announced a handful of winter West Coast tour dates, kicking things on March 3rd at Los Angeles’ Troubadour.  The band is bringing along The Last Royals and Sydney Wayser for their first ever dates on the western seaboard in 4 years.  The Hush Sound united for their first shows together last fall on the East Coast after finding themselves writing a slew of new songs together and excited about releasing new Hush Sound material in 2013.  The jaunt will focus on the West Coast and Southwest and will include the band’s first show at SXSW since 2007.

Formed in 2005, The Hush Sound started out playing VFWs, basements, and community theatres around Chicago.  Though they were just in high school at the time, the band found their niche in the indie world by crafting lyrics that told shrewd truths and matching them with baroque pop melodies and stunning male-female vocal interplay.  The next three years saw The Hush Sound release three full-length albums –So Sudden (2005), Like Vines (2006), and Goodbye Blues (2008); collectively selling 200,000 copies.  Along the way, the band toured with a variety of divergent acts including Phantom Planet, OK Go, Rooney, OneRepublic and The All American Rejects.

It was 2009 when, after releasing three albums in three years and touring the world together, these high school friends decided to branch out a bit creatively.  What seemed like a minute turned into a few years and it wasn’t until last summer in LA that they started to write new The Hush Sound songs together.  A little more mature and focused, the band was able to bring their outside experiences to the group and approached songwriting with a renewed enthusiasm.

It’s been seven years since The Hush Sound started playing together in those DIY spaces across Chicagoland and with new music in the works, they’re excited to hit the road together again this spring.  See below for all confirmed tour dates, and stay tuned for what’s to come.
