Nick Lowe to be on Daryl Hall's Webcast

Daryl Hall’s free webcast, Live From Daryl’s House, marks yet another milestone with the eighth edition of the popular Internet concert series, featuring singer-songwriter Nick Lowe along with longtime Hall and Oates member T-Bone Wolk, recorded live from Hall’s London home and debuting on his site http://www.livefromdarylshouse.com/ June 15.

“This is a very special installment of Live From Daryl’s House,” says Hall, dubbing it a “back porch segment.” “I’m not playing with the rest of the band. Rather, it’s three old friends sitting around a table, reminiscing and playing acoustic guitars.”

Hall, Lowe and Wolk can be seen jamming in the kitchen and garden of Daryl’s London home, with its magnificent view of the River Thames.

The playlist includes the three kicking back and playing songs like Lowe’s “I Live on a Battlefield” and “Shelley My Love” (both from Nick’s 1995 album, The Impossible Bird), “Rome Wasn’t Built in a Day” (from his 2007 album, At My Age), the classic “Cruel to be Kind” and “Time I Took a Holiday” (from his ’94 album, Dig My Mood). The trio also collaborated on a song called “Perikomen,” a Daryl Hall composition recorded as a demo when he was 20 years old which predates the formation of Hall and Oates, the first time it’s been played live anywhere.

The performance can be heard exclusively at http://www.livefromdarylshouse.com/ starting at 8pm EST on June 15.

What started as a “light bulb” moment experienced by Daryl Hall has turned into a viral sensation, with the superstar “playing music with my friends and putting it up on the Internet.” As he told Rolling Stone in a recent feature on Live From Daryl’s House, which it called “totally awesome”: “This is just a way to see my environment. It’s a state of mind, you know?”

Previous versions of Live From Daryl’s House have included appearances by U.K. singer-songwriter KT Tunstall and Gym Class Heroes’ Travis McCoy, a longtime Hall fan, Chuck Prophet and Mutlu, as well as a holiday special featuring songs from the Daryl Hall and John Oates release, Home for Christmas and a webcast of Daryl’s acclaimed SXSW solo show at Austin Convention Center performing a number of his classics. All are still available for viewing at the website.

Live from Daryl’s House has taken place at Hall’s residences in New York and London, as well as at the SXSW confab in Austin, TX, with upcoming versions slated for his other homes in New England and the Bahamas.

“These collaborations have really reinvigorated my music, both as a solo artist and the stuff I do with John and the band,” says Daryl. “It’s like getting a new lease on life. And the response has been overwhelming.”

Daryl and John were recently honored as BMI Icons, when the best-selling pop-rock duo of all time was saluted with a musical tribute at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in L.A. in May.
