Paintings benefit autism cause

Paintings created at the first Art From the Heart fundraiser in support of Autism Ontario (Canada) will be on display at the Spaghetti House until Sunday.

On Saturday, seven teams -- made up of professional artists and business leaders -- worked together to create paintings in the parking lot of the Clonsilla Avenue restaurant, said local artist Elyse Bruce, whose son has Asperger's syndrome.

For a $5 donation, Bruce said, people can now vote for which painting they like the best.
The paintings will be on display online at www.midnightinchicago.com as well as at the Spaghetti House.

Voting is open until Sunday at midnight, she said, and the winning team will be announced Aug. 10.

The team with the most votes will present half the money raised to Autism Ontario and the other half to a local charity of their choice, she said.
