Artist Dave Lovejoy to offer raku workshop

Aug. 30th & Sep. 6th (two Saturdays) 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM

This workshop is open to all levels of expertise, geared toward persons with little previous clay experience. The first Saturday begins with basic hand forming techniques and an overview of the Raku process. After some introduction, it will be hands-on clay the rest of the day. Your work will be bisqued and ready for you the following Saturday when we will glaze and fire it in the Raku kiln. This class is limited to 6 participants.

FEES: The tuition of $140 includes instruction by award-winning clay artist David Lovejoy, use of tools, clay and glazes, bisque and raku firing, refreshments, and lots of fun for both days. A non-refundable fee of $25 is required to hold your place; the remainder is due the morning of the first workshop. The classes are filled on a first come, first served basis.

General Information: The classes begin at 10 a.m. each day. The first class is over at 5 p.m. The second class is over when the firings are completed, usually around 8 or 9 p.m. Lunch is on your own or bring your own, snacks and refreshments are included. The classes are open to people 18 and over. Be ready to work hard and have fun.

Workshop is held at 2475 N. Lake Ave. in Altadena.
