Clifford Ozzidi is a man truly chasing the American dream. Raised in Nigeria, Clifford was brought up listening to music from across the Atlantic and, after seeing Michael Jackson’s Thriller video, he decided to follow his musical instincts and move to the States.

Now, after years of striving, practicing and learning his craft, Clifford and his band The Hellfire can finally present their debut album “Baby I’m Cool”. The record, due out later this year, is preceded by his first single “Girls, Girls, Girls”, available now on CD Baby.

And this is music which is certainly worth the wait. “Girls, Girls, Girls” is the sort of infectious pop tune that will appeal across the board. It is a dance tune with rock sensibilities and one of those songs that sounds like it has been in your head for a very long time. Backed with a sparky, original version of John Lennon’s classic “Imagine”, the single promises to be a major hit and is a fitting tribute to one of Clifford’s musical heroes.

It is also a precursor to an album that should take the music world by storm. With inspirations ranging from Jimi Hendrix to Wily Nelson and including the likes of Prince, Kenny G, Eddy Grant and the O’Jays along the way, Clifford and The Hellfire combine all that is best about soul, funk, pop, rock and dance in their musical stew.

Clifford himself is an accomplished musician, as well as songwriter and performer. He learnt his skills at the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music and soon began making demos and producing his own songs. He has used his immense experience to construct this new record. He has produced, written, engineered and performed every track and gathered a uniquely talented band around him, including a strong horn section that truly makes The Hellfire stand out from the crowd.
Clifford says he wants to become one of the finest African born singer/songwriters the world has ever seen. One listen to this new single and you will agree that the man is well on his way.

You can catch Clifford and The Hellfire on tour in May 2009. Check out www.coandthehellfire.com for full details.
